From a napkin to a guide...
It started with a simple question at a hotel reception.
An expat had just arrived on Porto Santo, curious, excited, and a little unsure where to begin. A local smiled, grabbed a sheet of paper, and started writing — where to go, what to see, where to eat, and all the small details only someone from the island would know. No filters, no algorithms — just honest, local tips passed from one person to another.
That moment stayed with us.
At heart, this project began with just two people and one shared belief: that truly local knowledge is worth passing on. What started as a handwritten list — the kind of “what to do, where to go” you’d scribble on a napkin — slowly turned into something much bigger.
Over the past two years, more than 100 people helped shape the proof of concept. Tourists told us what they were missing. Locals shared their knowledge. Businesses believed in the idea. Governmental and community partners supported the journey. Friends, creatives, and testers helped us refine, challenge, improve, and design every step of the way.
Little by little, that simple piece of paper became something tangible: the Porto Santo Pocket Guide 2026, available in print and digital, in both English and Portuguese, created to help people discover the island in a more local, intuitive, and meaningful way.
We’re incredibly proud of how far it has come, and even more excited to finally share it with a broader audience.
